Kriti is a Risk Intelligence Insights Lead at IAG with experience in provisioning, stress testing, credit risk portfolio reporting, risk data, risk systems, risk infrastructure, risk applications, divisional and enterprise-wide risk reporting for executive and Board audiences. She is an Associate Actuary with a keen interest in applying data analytics and the intelligence tradecraft to hone the future of risk management.

Why did you become an actuary?
I was looking up the salaries for the profession and it looked good as an alternative to a lawyer or doctor!
How did you find out about this career?
I went to my careers advisor at high school and told her I enjoyed mathematics and computer science. She went to a book and looked up my areas of interest and suggested studying Actuarial Studies.
How did you land your first actuarial job?
I got my first role in provisioning (like reserving but in the banking industry) by applying for the role.
What helped you build your career/progress?
I would say great leaders and people have helped my growth. It’s a very small industry in financial services and you can come across some people with very sound advice!
From your experience, what advantages does being an actuary offer in the professional world?
You are financially savvy, technology savvy, meeting like-minded professionals and have a mindset of continuous learning.
What are the top five skills that an actuary should have?

Ask questions that go beneath the surface to understand.

Merger and acquisition activities are always exciting!
